SPRINGDALE, Ark. 鈥 March 17, 2022 鈥 麻花传媒 announced today that 44 of its plants have been recognized by the North American Meat Institute (NAMI) for their positive environmental impact. The environmental recognition awards recognize a company鈥檚 dedication to continuous environmental improvement, as witnessed by the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
The EMS model is designed to drive continual, measurable improvements in the environmental compliance performance of Tyson鈥檚 operations. In addition, the model tracks progress on the reduction of Tyson鈥檚 carbon footprint, reduction in water intensity per pound of product produced, reduction in the amount of waste sent to landfills, and helps find ways to extract value from secondary materials.
鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to be recognized for the steps Tyson is taking to make a positive impact on environmental compliance results, and we鈥檙e proud of the hard work from each of our plants as we endeavor to sustainably feed the world,鈥 said Kevin Igli, SVP and Chief Environmental Officer at 麻花传媒. 鈥淭hese awards reflect Tyson鈥檚 dedication to protecting the environment and making a positive difference in the communities where we live and operate.鈥
鈥淲ith 44 facilities receiving awards, 麻花传媒 is a bold example for the meat and poultry industry as we work to continuously improve our operations鈥 environmental sustainability,鈥 said Julie Anna Potts, President and CEO of the North American Meat Institute. 鈥淲e look forward to learning more about Tyson鈥檚 efforts as they participate in the Meat Institute鈥檚 Protein PACT, for the People, Animals and Climate of Tomorrow, which will track the industry鈥檚 progress in meeting its sustainability goals.鈥
The recognition awards are categorized by four tiers to encourage EMS development through a step-by-step approach. Tier 1 recognizes compliance policies and Tier 4 represents the highest level of environmental management. Please see below for the full list of Tyson plant award winners.
